An agile community allows for an iterative development approach

The puzzle

ResMed are global leaders in medical equipment for sleep-disordered breathing.

  • They were developing their first direct-to-consumer product; a sleep monitoring solution with a bedside device and a smartphone app.
  • This was a big step into the unknown, so consumer insight was vital.

The pieces

Using Whycatcher?™ our own research platform, we recruited two key segments to join a fixed-length online sleep community.

  • We built a research programme to support the product development and marketing process.
  • The community used an array of methodologies, including both online and hybrid tasks.

The picture

The research was integral to achieving each project milestone and driving decision-making.

  • The flexibility enabled ResMed to take an iterative development approach.
  • Our insight informed the design of the hardware device, app functionality, design and audio experience, advice and monitoring expectations, and website designs.
  • It also helped secure on-going investment to successfully develop the product.
